Polling Place instructions

A step-by-step introduction to your polling place and the voting process

1. No person when within the polling place shall electioneer or solicit votes for any political party, political body or candidate, nor shall any written or printed matter be posted up within the said room, except as required by law.

2. Your Voter Registration Identification Card can be used for proof of voting eligibility.

3. When entering the polls, the Election Officials at the table may ask you your name, address, and possibly your birth date. In the Primaries you may also be asked your party affiliation.

4. After determining you are eligible to vote, you will be asked to sign your name on the certificate inside the poll book. When doing this, check your address listed. If it is incorrect tell the Official who will have you fill out the "Affirmation of Elector" form.

5. After signing your name, you will receive a voter access card.

6. START: Insert the voter access card into the slot at the right of the screen. Place the card face up with arrow pointing towards the slot. Push in the card firmly until it clicks.

7. READ INSTRUCTIONS: The first screen you will see is INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS. Read these carefully, then touch NEXT to begin voting.

8. SELECT CANDIDATES AND QUESTIONS: Make your selection by touching the box next to candidates or questions. To change your choice touch the box a second time, then make a new selection. Touch NEXT to advance through the ballot, touch BACK to review.

9. REVIEW YOUR CHOICES: At the end of the ballot you will see the Summary Page. To view the entire Summary Page touch the up or down arrow located on the right. Offices that have not been voted or are under voted are HIGHLIGHTED. To make a change, touch BACK.

10. CAST BALLOT: Make sure you are satisfied with all of your selections. When you have no further changes touch CAST BALLOT. This completes the voting process. Once CAST BALLOT is selected you may not make further changes or vote again.

11. RETURN VOTER ACCESS CARD: After you cast your ballot the machine will automatically eject the card. Please return it to a poll official, so that it may be prepared for the next voter.
