Seeking Planning Commission Volunteer

Union County is accepting applications from residents that would like to serve on the County Planning Commission.  This volunteer board meets publicly the second Monday of each month at 4:30 PM at the Union County Government Center in Lewisburg to conduct business on county planning issues such as subdivision and land development plan applications, comprehensive planning, transportation, land use, recycling, and a number of other topics.

The Planning Commission is an advisory body to the Board of County Commissioners and is made up of nine citizen volunteers appointed by the Commissioners representing diverse interests. The Planning Commission is dedicated to providing planning services to county municipalities, citizens and organizations with an emphasis on sustainability and maintaining the county’s rural and small town landscape and way of life.


Our mission is to foster quality planning that promotes orderly growth and development by balancing competing community needs such as economic expansion to retain viability with the protection of the built and natural environment.
