On River Road north of Lewisburg
From Water Street to the main entrance of RiverWoods

Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg is bringing the River Road Holiday concept back to the Lewisburg area this spring.  On Sunday, April 23, two thirds of a mile of River Road along the Susquehanna River will be closed to cars and open to pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair riders, rollerskaters, and runners from 1 to 5pm.  The stretch of River Road from North Water Street to Winter Farm Lane (by the main entrance to RiverWoods) will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, allowing individuals, families, and groups to enjoy this scenic stretch of the Susquehanna River on foot or on (non-motorized) wheels.

This will be an opportunity to see the river from a different vantage, rather than speeding by this stretch at 40 mph.  It will be an occasion to enjoy a riverfront promenade without having to travel to Northumberland or Williamsport.

The location also affords easy connections to additional walking and biking opportunities at Wolfe Field and the AYSO Soccer Complex for a total loop options of almost 2 miles.  And it reaches the street grid of downtown Lewisburg where another quarter mile walk brings you to Market Street.  So, for once, it will be easy to walk back and forth safely between downtown Lewisburg and RiverWoods.

Parking will be available for those approaching from the north in the grass lot off Winter Farm Lane opposite the RiverWoods main entrance.  For those arriving from the south, there is on street parking in the Borough and of course people can walk and bike there as well.  Restrooms are available at Wolfe Field.

Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg is only able to offer this event to the public thanks to generous support from Evangelical Community Hospital, Walmart Store 1644, Geisinger, Earl’s Bicycle Store, Bucknell University Wrestling, Buck’s Auto, Albright Care Services, Bucknell University Center for Sustainability and the Environment, Molesevich Environmental, the Otzinachson Group of the Sierra Club, ProCare Physical Therapy, RunLites, Runners’ Gazette, Fit for Funds, Street of Shops, Team Taper Racing, and Trot Fitness.
