Sheriff’s Office

Overview

The Sheriff's Office is taking a more active role to better serve our community. Along with the transporting of inmates to and from court, serving writ of executions on personal and real estate properties, traffic enforcement, warrants, paper service and courthouse security, we strive to serve our community in a respectable and professional manner.

Along with the normal duties of the Sheriff’s Office, we offer programs to the community that aid our youth with bicycle helmet safety checks, the Eddie Eagle Program, school visits to the courthouse and of course our latest initiative the Union County Triad reducing criminal victimization of the elderly. Our favorite program is the demonstrations with the Union County Sheriff's K-9. The star deputy "Iro" is trained in the detection of explosives and aids in criminal searches. The newest addition to the Sheriff's Office K-9 program is "Heidi". She is trained in narcotics detection and both K-9's have been beneficial to the county and surrounding law enforcement agencies.

We have now updated our pistol permits to offer the new photo ID but we still offer the paper permit to the licensee. All applicants must receive an approval certification from the Pennsylvania Instant Check System. The Sheriff's Office also sends a notice to all previous applicants as a reminder to renew the permit, in which the response to this has proven very appreciative.

The Union County Sheriff's Office is committed to serving our community and all of our citizens.
